ABOUT US

The North Central Nebraska Arts Council began as a project to fund an auditorium when those plans were cut from the new public school building project back in 2018. It was a group of like-minded individuals who understood how the addition of such an important performance space would greatly benefit our community. That group and our mission has morphed since our inception, but the overarching goal has remained. We want to ensure Fine Arts programs have a face and a voice in our communities. The focus of the NCNAC has since shifted to providing fine arts opportunities, programming, advertising, and scholarships for Holt County and surrounding areas. We still hope to get our auditorium someday, which is why your support is so important.

 

Currently, our biggest projects include the O'Neill Community Theater and the Atkinson Children's Theater. Both take place in the summer and are wonderful opportunities for those interested in participating on stage or behind the scenes. We also host the annual Mr. Irish pageant as part of O'Neill's local St. Patrick's Day celebrations. In the recent past, we have provided scholarships for students to attend fine arts camps and are always looking for other programs in the area to lift up. We have donated to locl school drama departments, have funded advertising for local art shows, and have joined with the O'Neill Friends of the Library to host a banquet for the arts each fall. In the future, we hope to expand the NCNAC to include more of north central Nebraska. Some day, we would love to have a beautiful auditorium where programming of all kinds can take residence, enriching our corner of Nebraska and providing incredible opportunities for the members of our communities.
